For those who don't know, Aberdeen Square Park is between Post Ave on the west and Woodbine on the east and is where Aberdeen splits to divide into 2 one way streets around the park to the north and south.  Here is a link to Aberdeen Square in Google Maps.

Hope to see you at the Square Fair on Saturday.  Be sure to get there for the Pancake Breakfast from 8-10 am.  Booths will still be being set up, but the early morning breakfast with neighbors usually draws a good crowd.

The End is Near

The  19th Ward Treasure Hunt ends on Saturday, June 6th at Square Fair.  There is still time to solve the puzzle and to find more keys.  For last minute puzzle solvers the treasure hunt box will be moved Saturday morning from Boulder Coffee to Square Fair.  So if you are still working on solving the puzzle, you can come to Square Fair to try your luck in opening the Treasure Box.  All prizes not claimed by 2:00 pm on Saturday will be put into the drawing.  To enter the drawing, just bring the keys you have found to Square Fair and turn them in for a chance to enter the drawing.

Hints hint...

In case you didn't figure it out yet, most of the photos in the Weblog have been taken at or near an answer to one of the clues in the Puzzle.  The entire puzzle has now been posted in this web site and it of course still available in hard copy at all of our Sponsor's locations.

Keys Distributed

Keys were distributed today in Irondequoit, Corn Hill, Downtown Rochester, in and around the 19th Ward, and PLEX.   Look for keys around the gazebo in Corn Hill and by the statue in Corn Hill Landing.  We have had three more successful treasure hunters!!! There are still 90 keys in the treasure hunt box.

Saturday will be a big key day. Jon John’s Specialty desserts is open in the winter shed at the Public Market across from Paula’s Essentials for the Soul, two of our vendors.  Stop by both of our sponsor’s at the market as that will be a key hot spot. All of our sponsor’s, however, have keys  every day in and around their stores.   If you are having trouble with the puzzle, besides checking the website for extra clues, stop at Boulder Coffee and the Arnett Library as both have copies of our two 19th ward reference books Images of the America: Rochester’s 19th Ward by Michael Leavy and Glenn Leavy, and Neighborhood to Community: The Nineteenth Ward in Rochester New York by Dr. Dorris Meadows.

Treasure Box has been OPENED !!

Congratulations to our first two treasure hunt sleuths who have successfully solved the puzzle.  There are still 96 keys in the treasure box.  We have three teams of individuals putting out keys throughout Monroe County.  The best ways to find keys, however, are to visit our sponsors stores, and to solve the puzzle to open the treasure box.

If you are one of the successful Treasure Hunt sleuths, leave us a note in the comments to encourage others to keep working!

Keys in Sponsor's Stores

All of our participating sponsors have keys, and keys were distributed today in the 19th ward, the South Wedge, Swillburg, and Park Avenue. Some may still be out there. The library has been very busy with a lot of people finding keys and stopping by to solve that part of the puzzle.

The small girl's bike being donated by Freewheelers is on display in the Children's Section. It will make some little girl very happy. The library has set out some helpful resources to solve the puzzle. These include two books on the history of the 19th ward. We also set out two store copies at Boulder Coffee. These are meant to stay in the store.

There are also three keys in one of our nearby geocaches. Go to geocaching.com and look up Betwixt and Between (GC1BGWQ) to find the coordinates.

If you find a key, please post a comment and let us know where and/or how you found your key.

Thanks for the Help

We had a great gathering of helpers and volunteers at Boulder Coffee tonight. Great thanks to Sheila Bazil, Tara Hagan, Deb Leary, Gary Leary, Dan and Jay, Fred Hagen, Susan Hagen, Tyler DeMarle, Ryan Atkinson, Landy Atkinson, and Joanne DeMarle for all their help.  We successfully made 1000 sets of keys that are ready to be disbursed beginning on 5/25.  Everyone one of those keys has a chance of winning a prize, but every key is already a winner.  If you find that key bring it to the Tops Market at 450 West Avenue and they will stamp it and give you a free loaf of Bakers Oven French Bread. Bring is to Boulder Coffee at 955 Genesee Street and you will be able to buy a medium drink for the price of  small drink. Bring it to the Arnett Library and they will give you a coupon for free book at their upcoming Book Sale.

Keys are Ready!

Tonight a group of about 8 volunteers met at Boulder Coffee to assemble the key tags onto the keys.  It took about 2 hours, 8 beers, 3 coffees, 4 Chi Lattes, and a few fruit drinks to make it through the ordeal.  The keys have now been distributed to the "Key Droppers" who will be releasing the keys into the wild over the 2 weeks from Monday, May 25 until Friday, June 5.  So keep your eyes PEELED!!
